Job description
About the Role
The AI Accounting Manager at Rewaa oversees the end-to-end operations of our AI-powered bookkeeping system tailored for SMEs. This platform transforms sales, inventory, and bank data into comprehensive, VAT-compliant accounting records. You will lead a team of accounting specialists based in Riyadh and Cairo, managing the review workflow and driving continuous improvements in the product’s AI accounting automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure data quality by setting and maintaining review standards for AI-generated entries, managing exception handling, and tracking errors.
- Manage the feedback loop by analyzing corrections made by the team and guiding Product and Engineering on priorities for automation enhancements.
- Act as the accounting domain authority for the product, maintaining accurate chart of accounts templates, VAT treatments, and posting rules compliant with Saudi accounting standards and ZATCA requirements.
- Develop and implement operational workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and escalation protocols across teams located in Riyadh, Cairo, and Jordan.
- Coordinate merchant onboarding collaboratively with Sales and Customer Success to ensure efficient and correct setup on the product.
- Build and manage the team including hiring plans, performance and incentive frameworks, coaching, reviews, and managing exits.
- Identify manual repetitive tasks within review processes and automate them to increase merchant coverage and operational efficiency.
- Maintain dashboards reflecting accuracy, review throughput, exception rates, and automation progress, providing monthly reports to leadership.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Experience running high-volume accounting or bookkeeping operations in outsourced accounting, shared services, or fintech/accounting software companies, with established SOPs and quality control.
- Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Saudi VAT, ZATCA e-invoicing, and local accounting practices.
- At least three years’ experience leading accounting teams, including remote team members across countries.
- Proficient in utilizing AI tools daily to streamline workflows and develop tools, comfortable with dashboards, and able to read basic SQL queries.
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
- A degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred but Not Required
- Professional certifications such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, or CMA.
- Experience working in a fintech or accounting software product team or in quality assurance for AI/ML outputs.
- Familiarity with retail, food & beverage, and services sector SMEs.
Role Limitations
- This role is focused on software and data accuracy/improvement, not on managing an accounting firm or traditional accounting services.
- The role requires direct engagement with data rather than solely managing by policy or reports developed by others.
- This position is based in Riyadh and involves in-office leadership; fully remote leadership applicants need not apply.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive monthly salary.
- Participation in a meaningful Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP), offering ownership in company growth.
- 21 working days of annual leave consistent with company policy.
- Health insurance coverage extending to the employee’s spouse and children.
- Opportunity to contribute to a leading SaaS scale-up in Saudi Arabia.
