Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position based in Hay, New South Wales involves piloting agricultural drones to execute tasks such as aerial spraying, spreading, mapping, and crop monitoring while adhering to job and regulatory standards. Daily duties include preparing and following flight plans, performing equipment checks before and after flights, monitoring drone functionality, and ensuring safe drone operation in diverse field environments.
The role requires coordinating with farmers and team members to schedule jobs, gathering and reporting field data, and maintaining detailed records of all operations and applications. The pilot is also accountable for conducting routine drone maintenance, complying with safety and aviation rules, and continuously updating knowledge of emerging agricultural aviation technologies and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation of flights, application rates, and regulatory compliance.
- Basic mechanical and technical skills for troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating drones and equipment.
- Capability to work outdoors at on-site locations, perform physical tasks related to field operations, and observe safety measures.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with growers, supervisors, and colleagues in a time-sensitive context.
- Possession or eligibility for drone/RPAS certifications in line with applicable aviation regulations is highly advantageous.
- Valid driving license and dependable transportation to access work sites in and around Hay South, NSW.
- Previous exposure to aviation, surveying, or precision agriculture is beneficial but not compulsory.
