AGM- Production Planning & Control (Foundry Operations)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional specializing in production planning and control within foundry operations. The ideal candidate is a Mechanical or Production Engineer with extensive expertise in manufacturing planning, ERP systems, and foundry processes. This role demands strong operational knowledge, cross-functional coordination skills, and a strategic approach to production scheduling and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules across various stages of foundry operations including melting, molding, core making, and finishing activities.
• Maximize productivity by optimizing furnace utilization, molding line capacity, and efficient manpower deployment.
• Collaborate effectively with production, quality assurance, and maintenance departments to maintain alignment with production timelines.
• Continuously monitor actual production against plans and initiate corrective measures when necessary.
• Lead or assist with ERP system implementation focused on manufacturing planning modules, ensuring configuration of Production Planning (PP) and Advanced Planning & Scheduling (PP/DS) components.
• Maintain precise Bills of Materials (BOM), routings, and master data accuracy specific to foundry products.
• Work closely with IT and diverse teams during ERP rollout, testing phases, and stabilization to guarantee smooth adoption.
• Utilize PP/DS tools for detailed production scheduling, sequencing jobs, and managing capacity constraints related to furnaces, molding lines, and machining equipment.
• Oversee raw material planning and control including pig iron, scrap, alloys, sand, and necessary consumables, balancing inventory levels to meet production demands without surplus.
• Cooperate with procurement to ensure materials are procured and available promptly.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with sales, dispatch, quality, and maintenance to synchronize production with customer requirements and support new product trials and development schedules.
• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, furnace usage, and adherence to planned schedules, preparing regular reports and dashboards using ERP/MIS tools.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
• Contribute to capacity planning, plant expansions, and process optimization projects aimed at continuous operational improvement.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines (Diploma, B.Tech, or B.E.).
• Demonstrated strong understanding of foundry operational processes and production planning fundamentals.
• Proven hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, particularly in production planning and scheduling modules (PP/DS or equivalent advanced planning systems).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Expertise in capacity planning, inventory management, and foundry process knowledge is essential.
