Job Overview

This role involves executing daily activities related to AFC (Automated Fare Collection) Systems and generating reports for Metro, Tram, and AFC Test Laboratories located in Al Qusais and the RTA Headquarters. The position requires ensuring system health, managing network status, and maintaining AFC equipment functionality.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports to RTA and Keolis-MHI Dubai Metro Management.
  • Monitor network status, connectivity, disk space, AFC packages, and overall functionality of Level 3 Servers, Workstations, and AFC equipment.
  • Conduct proactive health checks of the AFC system and perform necessary system administration tasks to maintain optimal operation.
  • Inspect the AFC Network and its connections with the Level 4 Central Clearing House for health, security, and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Oversee daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting activities for RTA Test Laboratories in Al Qusais and RTA Headquarters across various public transport systems including Metro, Tram, Bus, Metro Car Park, Water Bus, Taxi, and Parking Meters.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance for all PTAs in Test Laboratories is conducted regularly following the schedule.
  • Monitor and control access to the Al Qusais Test Lab for all AFC system equipment activities by RTA public transport agencies.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and servers when required, including tracing, rebooting, and coordinating with Fault Monitoring and Control (FMC) and maintenance units.
  • Manage backups through Keolis-MHI Back Up system and handle file restorations.
  • Upload and verify the latest Equipment Operating Data from Level 4 to all AFC equipment to ensure updates are implemented.
  • Maintain logs of faults reported to FMC and follow up on resolution.
  • Analyze system logs to identify potential system issues.
  • Respond to faults reported by FMC by conducting investigations or referring to appropriate departments.
  • Log all system issues and faults into Maximo.
  • Coordinate with RTA and AFC Maintenance teams regarding system issues.
  • Administer operator access controls for AFC equipment users such as Ticket Office Machines, Ticket Vending Machines, Gates, and Portable Checking Machines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks like changing backup tapes and replacing failed RAID drives.
  • Investigate customer complaints and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Manage system administration of the Metro and Tram AFC Systems Network.
  • Participate actively in software deployment processes including testing, coordination, and issuing notices as required.
  • Work independently on rotating shifts, making proactive decisions in consultation with AFC Systems Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Senior AFC Systems Specialist and AFC Systems Manager.
  • Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of all data including performance, financial, and customer information, following company non-disclosure policies.
  • Maintain personal responsibility for health, safety, and welfare at work and promptly report any incidents or safety breaches following organizational policies.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough understanding of AFC Systems operations and infrastructure.
  • Proficient with VMware, SQL Server, Oracle databases, Qlik Reporting Tool, Windows administration, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis and numerical techniques.
  • Experience with Relational Database Administration, particularly SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments (versions 2000, 2003, 2008, 2016) and basic Linux and networking knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of LDAP, Active Directory, and Domain Controller concepts.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced team environment.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of professional experience working with AFC Systems.
  • Vocational certificate, diploma, or degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
