Accountant

Role Overview

Based at the Leppington office in New South Wales, this Accountant position is pivotal in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and statutory compliance of Games Workshop's financial records across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Reporting directly to the Finance Manager – ANZ, the role involves mentoring an Assistant Accountant and overseeing critical accounting tasks covering multiple ledgers in the region.

Primary Responsibilities

• Process and review ledger transactions with great attention to detail to ensure accounting records are accurate and compliant.
• Reconcile balance sheet control accounts and take complete responsibility for all reconciliations, including auditing the Assistant Accountant's outputs.
• Analyze profit and loss statements and balance sheet accounts across all general ledgers for correct classification and provide explanations for significant variances.
• Assist in preparing and finalizing monthly P&L and balance sheet reports for assigned ledgers and ensure timely and accurate submission of financial data to the Group Reporting team.
• Support statutory reporting duties such as half-year, year-end, and local subsidiary obligations, alongside managing ANZ compliance and tax return preparations in partnership with internal and external tax professionals.
• Lead process enhancement projects aimed at increasing efficiency and lowering staffing expenses through workflow optimization and automation.
• Engage with various finance units and other departments through clear and effective communication to ensure cohesive and timely collaboration.
• Provide ad hoc accounting assistance to boost the Finance team's overall performance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• CPA or CA full qualification is mandatory.
• Demonstrated prior experience in an accounting team environment.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel, including use of lookups and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with ERP accounting systems.
• In-depth understanding of balance sheet accounts and reconciliation processes.
• Solid grasp of accounting principles and related standards.
• Excellent communication abilities coupled with training skills to assist local teams.
• Highly organized, detail-focused, and process-oriented working style.
• Thorough knowledge of ANZ tax and statutory compliance requirements.

• Background in managing high-volume accounting operations.
• Experience within global or international companies.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Broad understanding of global financial business operations.
