About the Role
Tushop, a fast-expanding e-commerce and retail company based in Nairobi, Kenya, seeks a meticulous, analytical, and proactive Accountant to become part of our Finance team. This position offers a hands-on experience focusing on number management, problem-solving, and linking financial data to commercial business decisions. The role covers accounting operations, partner and third-party seller reconciliations, tax regulation compliance, plus market and pricing analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable functions, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain precise customer and supplier ledgers, assist with month-end closing, and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile transactions with partners and third-party sellers (3PS), monitor receivables, and support settlements, reports, and payouts.
- Gather and analyze market pricing data, tracking margins, variances, and trends to aid pricing and procurement decisions.
- Keep financial records audit-ready and support both internal and external audits.
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Manage and reconcile petty cash transactions with proper documentation.
- Provide accurate financial reports and analysis to inform day-to-day business choices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA qualification at intermediate level or higher.
- At least 3 years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Proficient and experienced with QuickBooks software.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis, particularly in variance, margin, and financial data examination.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation procedures, and tax compliance.
- Excellent analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail.
- Capacity to handle various tasks simultaneously in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational aptitudes.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Preferred Experience
- Background in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or startup environments.
- Experience collaborating with partners, vendors, or third-party sellers.
- Familiarity with market pricing strategies, margin assessment, or commercial finance.
