Role Overview

We are seeking a CA or CPA qualified Accountant to manage the daily accounting and finance activities for our expanding technology-enabled services company. This hands-on position concentrates on Australian and consolidated group accounting, covering month-end close, tax compliance, and payroll coordination across various jurisdictions. You will report to the Finance Manager and oversee an offshore accountant handling transactional tasks, with opportunities to deepen technical expertise and expand client responsibilities as our portfolio grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct the complete month-end close, including accruals, deferrals, foreign exchange revaluations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare initial accounting consolidations and generate management and statutory reports.
• Analyze variances versus budget and forecast, supporting board reports with financial insights.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including maintaining policy and approval matrices.
• Handle BAS and IAS filings while liaising with external tax consultants.
• Oversee payroll management across Australia and abroad, ensuring payroll tax and superannuation compliance.
• Supervise, review, and train an offshore accounting resource to ensure accuracy and high-quality output.
• Maintain detailed accounting process documentation and promote automation and workflow improvements.
• Provide structured updates to the Finance Manager regarding portfolio status, deadlines, and team performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• CA or CPA certification, or its equivalent, is required.
• Australian working rights are mandatory.
• Proven hands-on accounting experience, including managing month-end close processes.
• Solid technical expertise in accounting standards, reconciliations, accrual management, and statutory reporting.
• Experience overseeing offshore or outsourced teams, with coaching skills to enhance performance.
• Familiarity with tax compliance, BAS/IAS submissions, and payroll accounting intricacies.
• Proficiency with cloud accounting software like Xero, with consolidation tool knowledge (e.g., Fathom) considered a plus.
• Advanced Excel abilities.
• Comfort engaging with stakeholders on technical accounting issues.
• Preferably a stable career background with at least three years in the current role, indicating reliability and perseverance.
