Role Impact
As part of the Core Accounting team, the Accounts Payable Accountant will play a pivotal role in evolving Personio's AP function. This position involves leading end-to-end accounts payable operations, enhancing automation, and collaborating across departments on transformative projects to optimize processes throughout our expanding organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complete accounts payable operations, including month-end and year-end closing activities compliant with local GAAP, reconciling general and sub-ledger accounts related to suppliers and accruals, ensuring on-time completion
- Handle supplier invoice processing, reconcile outstanding items, and maintain effective communication with suppliers and internal teams, while spearheading automation and process improvements
- Actively represent the Accounts Payable function in cross-departmental projects such as Procure-to-Pay and similar initiatives, fostering process digitalization and efficiency
- Prepare financial analyses and ad-hoc reports to enhance quality control and provide valuable insights to management
- Serve as a primary liaison for internal stakeholders, auditors, and tax consultants
- Contribute to other accounting areas, such as payroll and fixed assets, as necessary
- Address additional tasks and requests as they arise
Qualifications
- Recognized professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, Bilanzbuchhalter, Steuerberater, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a multi-entity, rapidly growing SaaS or technology setting
- Deep understanding of local accounting standards and EMEA VAT regulations
- Advanced capabilities in Excel and Google Sheets
- Fluent English communication skills; proficiency in German or Spanish is advantageous
- Knowledge of Workday Financials is beneficial
- Experience using automation platforms such as Floqast or Blackline, and generative AI tools to streamline AP workflows
- A proactive and independent problem-solving approach, comfortable managing ambiguity and adapting in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
