Role Summary
As an Account Manager within PayPal's SMB team, you will manage a portfolio of roughly 80 high-value small and medium business merchants. Your responsibilities include nurturing and expanding relationships by identifying growth opportunities, increasing product adoption, and solving complex merchant challenges to drive transaction margin growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the sole commercial contact for assigned merchants, accountable for overall commercial success.
- Develop customized account plans and strategies tailored to strategically important merchants.
- Leverage AI-based tools for identifying growth, cross-selling, and risk alerts within your portfolio.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasts, and health metrics, sharing best practices with junior account managers.
- Engage internal teams to promptly address merchant needs and resolve novel or ambiguous issues.
- Collaborate across departments to enhance process efficiency and quality.
- Use analytical judgment to recommend optimal merchant solutions and alternative options.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience coupled with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Preferably 5+ years managing high-value or strategic customer accounts with proven commercial results.
- Demonstrated ability to retain and grow complex business portfolios via cross-selling and upselling.
- Comfort using AI and commercial data for prioritizing opportunities and early detection of churn risks.
- Strong problem-solving skills capable of handling issues without established guidelines, ensuring sound commercial decisions.
- Excellent internal collaboration skills to mobilize teams, maintain sharp forecasting, and execute actions consistently.
Additional Information
Travel requirements are minimal, approximately 0%. The role is based onsite in Dublin but aligns with PayPal's hybrid work approach allowing flexible office and home workspace days.
