Role Overview

The Plate Mounter is responsible for precisely mounting plates onto cylinders, ensuring correct registration to guarantee high quality prints. The role involves removing plates from cylinders and producing plates when required, all within standard production rates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare and mount all plates onto cylinders in proper register.
• Proof each print job for correctness, including color separation, registration, and surface consistency.
• Verify all aspects of the job against sample proofs, memos, and production orders, consulting supervision if uncertainties arise.
• Adhere to safety procedures when lifting and mounting plates.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment to comply with SQF standards.
• Inspect plate quality, storing plates correctly or disposing of them properly.
• Ensure cylinders are safely loaded and secured when hoisted.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work takes place on a manufacturing plant floor with exposure to hot and cold conditions.
• Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent physical activities include bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and climbing.
• Handle printing plates and remove sticky backs from cylinders, sometimes requiring a pulling force of up to 125 pounds.

Tools and Equipment

• Utilize appropriate hand tools specific to role.
• Operate equipment such as computers and printers.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic skills in mathematics and spelling.
• Effective and respectful communication abilities.
• Competency in reading, writing, and accurately interpreting production orders.
• Capability to work in a deadline-driven environment and solve problems.
• Knowledge of Flexo printing is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret bag layouts and understand mechanical operations of plate-making equipment.
• Exceptional attention to detail.

Additional Information
