Job description

Position Overview

Carnegie Mellon University in Doha, Qatar is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support its Information Systems program starting August 15, 2026, through June 30. This entry-level role involves assisting instructors in various information systems courses, including responsibilities such as lab assistance, grading, and course material management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with course instructors to develop and prepare teaching materials.
  • Manage technology setup for courses, including software installation, configuration, and student account administration.
  • Facilitate recitations and help during labs or lectures.
  • Evaluate student work based on provided rubrics or answer keys.
  • Proctor examinations and hold office hours for student support.
  • Moderate class discussions and maintain course content on the Canvas platform.
  • Participate in planning and executing educational and outreach activities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Information Systems Area Head or designees.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in information systems topics such as application development, databases, web development, and IT project management.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python and R, is highly valued.
  • Experience guiding students, notably in technical projects.
  • Strong communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must currently reside in Qatar to be considered.

The position offers close mentorship by faculty members and immersion in a scholarly environment. It is a fixed-term staff position supporting academic programs.
