MEP Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview

TXM Solutions is looking for a seasoned MEP Quantity Surveyor with between 7 and 10 years of experience focused on the commercial and contractual management of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects. The role encompasses cost estimating, procurement assistance, contract administration, project cost monitoring, and handling variations and claims.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and detailed bills of quantities for MEP works.
• Analyze tender documents, including drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Perform quantity take-offs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
• Prepare tender submissions, commercial proposals, and detailed subcontractor comparison reports.
• Assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers and contribute to commercial negotiations.
• Process and review interim payment requests, variations, claims, and final account settlements.
• Track project costs, commitments, cash flow, and projections relative to approved budgets.
• Identify commercial risks, cost-saving possibilities, and contract-related issues.
• Evaluate and certify payment applications submitted by subcontractors for completed work.
• Maintain accurate records on quantities, costs, variations, correspondence, and approvals.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, planning, project management, and finance departments.
• Participate in commercial meetings involving clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Assist in project closure and final account resolution.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7 to 10 years of professional quantity surveying experience in the MEP construction sector.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction drawings, specifications, and installation techniques.
• Experience managing both pre-contract and post-contract commercial functions.
• Familiarity with contract terms, measurement standards, variation management, and claims preparation.
• Previous employment with an established MEP contractor is preferred.
• Experience with GCC region projects is highly valued.
• Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity take-off or cost control software tools.
• Professional memberships like RICS, AIQS, or equivalents are considered beneficial.
