Internship Overview and Responsibilities

The internship involves collaboration with the core engineering team to conceptualize and size advanced fixed-wing UAVs. This includes wing design, aircraft configuration, performance and weight estimation, and aerodynamic trade studies.

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and the aircraft's Outer Mold Line (OML) using software such as SolidWorks or CATIA, focusing on aerodynamics, packaging, manufacturability, and structural requirements.
• Conduct aerodynamic analyses and CFD simulations utilizing tools like OpenVSP, XFLR5, ANSYS Fluent, or similar to assess lift, drag, stability, cruise efficiency, and aerodynamic margins.
• Design structural components such as spars, ribs, mounting frameworks, and composite parts, and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure structural integrity under operational loads.
• Analyze aircraft weight, balance, and center of gravity (CG) under various loading and fuel scenarios, maintaining a stringent mass budget.
• Support multidisciplinary trade studies encompassing aerodynamics, structures, propulsion integration, manufacturing feasibility, and performance metrics.
• Engage in design reviews, prototype fabrication, manufacturing coordination, ground testing, and ongoing design refinements.
• Maintain thorough documentation of calculations, simulations, design rationales, and present these during technical review meetings.

Candidate Eligibility

• Candidates must be available full-time onsite in Hyderabad for the internship duration of six months, starting between September 17, 2026, and October 22, 2026.
• Applicants should be either current Mechanical Engineering students or fresh graduates with an interest and relevant skills in aerospace or related disciplines.
• Preference will be given to those with a background in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering from reputable programs.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Strong grasp of fixed-wing aircraft design, including aerodynamics, stability and control, aircraft performance, structures, and basic propulsion integration.
• Practical experience with student competitions or teams like SAE Aero Design, FSAE Aero, UAV clubs, RC aircraft projects, or private fixed-wing aircraft design/build efforts.
• Proficiency in engineering tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, OpenVSP, XFLR5, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Abaqus, or similar CAD/CAE software.
• An ability to work from fundamental principles beyond software usage is highly valued.
• Demonstrated history of creating, testing, or flying engineered projects will significantly strengthen candidacy.
• Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative startup environment from the onsite engineering facility.

Compensation and Perks

• Monthly stipend ranging between INR 20,000 to 21,000.
