About the internship

About the Internship

Join HereCraft as a Marketplace Curator on a remote, part-time internship where passion for Indian handmade crafts and dedication matter more than experience. This role centers around becoming the key driver in curating a rich, authentic, and culturally vibrant marketplace by researching regional specialties and discovering talented artisans across India's diverse states.

Intern Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research of specialty products across assigned Indian states and develop detailed category structures to showcase regional diversity.
  • Scout social media platforms, particularly Instagram, to identify authentic artisans who lack online presence and assess their craft quality and story potential to build a strong vendor pipeline.
  • Engage with artisans through direct messages, emails, or WhatsApp; cultivate genuine relationships; coordinate meetings with the Vendor Acquisition Team; and maintain smooth handoffs.
  • Evaluate initial photographs of vendor products to select items for professional photography based on authenticity and visual appeal.
  • Review and approve catalogues containing product SKUs, descriptions, and filters to ensure accuracy, cultural alignment, and quality before website publication.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control by ensuring adherence to authenticity and ethical standards, filtering out counterfeit or mass-produced goods, and educating vendors on HereCraft's values.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Strong passion for Indian crafts and cultural heritage; motivated and committed to growing the marketplace from the ground up.
  • Good aesthetic sense to recognize authentic, well-crafted, and attractive products that tell a compelling story.
  • Research proficiency with the ability to explore artisans and crafts via Instagram, Google, and blogs, and comfort with initiating contact with strangers online.
  • Basic knowledge of Indian crafts, textiles, and regional specialties such as Benarasi silks and Madhubani art, along with respect and willingness to learn about diverse cultural traditions.
  • Effective communication skills in English, with empathy and respect, suitable for interacting with artisans from varied backgrounds; regional language skills are advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented approach spotting errors, low-quality photos, and inconsistencies, ensuring high standards through careful reviews.
  • Comfortable using digital tools such as Instagram, Facebook, email, WhatsApp, Google Sheets, and Excel; quick learner with technology but coding is not required.
  • A humble, proactive mindset with eagerness to learn, problem-solve, work independently, and contribute as a team member.
