Opportunity Overview
We are currently seeking a Design Manager to join our Southern Water team based in Christchurch, due to an internal relocation. This role involves actively contributing to the delivery of water infrastructure projects across diverse sectors, collaborating closely with experienced leaders throughout the project lifecycle from initial concept through to construction, aiming to achieve impactful results for our clients and local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee project delivery by managing scope, budgets, and timelines effectively.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and facilitate design development consistent with client requirements.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and actively participate in meetings and workshops.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with projects.
- Provide support for construction monitoring activities as necessary.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented professional who flourishes in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting. The ideal candidate values strong client and team relationships and contributes to the success of projects with positive engagement.
- A minimum of four years’ experience in project or design management, preferably within the water infrastructure sector including areas like three waters, treatment plants, pipelines, or networks.
- Holds a relevant Engineering degree.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging effectively with clients.
- Basic commercial acumen and a solid understanding of project delivery methodologies.
- Exemplifies a proactive and organized mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and a strong dedication to health and safety.

Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
