Job description
Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Inspector to join our Quality Management Department, assisting with the successful execution of construction and EPC projects in line with contractual, client, statutory, and project-specific quality standards. This role is based in Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia, with immediate availability preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspections of mechanical installations following approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Inspect diverse mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, and mechanical equipment setups.
- Verify correct installation parameters such as equipment alignment, dimensions, tolerances, anchor supports, bolt torques, embedments, and overall workmanship quality.
- Oversee and document mechanical testing procedures like pressure tests, hydrostatic testing, flushing, welding inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Check incoming mechanical materials against approved purchase orders, submittals, specifications, and relevant standards.
- Liaise with construction teams, engineering departments, client QA/QC representatives, third-party inspectors, and lab personnel to ensure quality compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive quality documentation including inspection reports, requests, checklists, and testing records.
- Identify non-conformities and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs); monitor corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), mechanical commissioning, punch-list inspections, and resolving outstanding snags.
- Assist with the preparation of final quality control dossiers and handover packages, encompassing test certificates, calibration documentation, as-built drawings, and warranty records.
- Contribute toward quality key performance indicators, continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned, and fostering a culture emphasizing right-first-time quality delivery.
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- Working awareness of ISO 9001 standards; familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of mechanical codes, standards, project-specific specs, and inspection requirements.
- Certification in welding inspection, coating inspection, or related mechanical inspection disciplines is a plus.
Experience
- At least 5 years of post-academic work experience in QA/QC and inspection roles.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical inspection within construction or EPC projects.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping installations, testing, and mechanical equipment commissioning.
- Proven familiarity with pressure testing, hydrostatic tests, flushing procedures, welding inspections, NDT coordination, and mechanical alignment checks.
- Practical involvement with preparation and usage of ITPs, inspection checklists, NCRs, and related quality control documentation.
- Participation in FAT/SAT, commissioning phases, punch-list resolution, and project closeout activities.
- Coordination experience with a broad array of stakeholders including clients, consultants, subcontractors, third-party inspectors, laboratories, construction crews, and engineering teams.
Skills
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with document management platforms such as SharePoint and Aconex preferred.
