About the Role
MEMX is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to our core software team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the MEMX trading system. A key focus will be on production support during US evening hours for the Equities and Options trading platforms, serving our Market Tech clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in the complete Software Development Life Cycle for the MEMX Trading Platform.
- Develop event-sourcing applications characterized by low latency and high throughput.
- Provide problem resolution for production-level software issues.
- Cover the US evening shift from 10 PM to 6 AM EST to support trading operations.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Over six years of experience in server-side Java software development focusing on real-time systems.
- Proven capability to independently manage multiple systems simultaneously.
- Experience developing software for US Equities, Options, or Futures trading asset classes.
- Expertise in developing and supporting high volume, low latency Linux-based production systems.
- Strong professional and interpersonal skills, including exceptional customer service, creative problem solving, and effective communication.
- Broad systems perspective with the ability to understand the interaction between internal and external entities.
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in a dynamic, remote-first work environment.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of clearing and settlement or back-office processes.
- Familiarity with event sourcing design patterns.
- Experience with Time Series Databases such as Deephaven.
- Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP network protocols.
- Experience with FIX messaging protocol.
- Proficiency in tools such as Git, Gradle, JUnit, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, and Wireshark.
