Job description

Position Summary

WSP New Zealand is actively recruiting Senior Power Engineering Designers to join our expanding Power and Energy team. We offer a chance to work on impactful infrastructure projects within a vibrant and supportive environment located in Auckland, New Zealand.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced professionals with over 10 years of expertise in power engineering design to fill roles including Lead/Design Managers, Protection and Control Lead Engineers, and SCADA/Substation Automation Engineers. Ideal candidates will have skills in multi-disciplinary coordination, risk management, yard layout design, SCADA architecture, relay applications, busbar design, transformer line and scheme design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering solutions of the highest standard.
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams across the country.
  • Contribute to design, perform site investigations, and support project execution.
  • Develop technical documentation and oversee construction monitoring processes.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and associated risks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist in their professional growth.
  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing within the workplace.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline; Washington Accord accreditation is preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in power engineering design, preferably within consultancy.
  • Strong communicator with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and client-centered approach.
