Role Overview
As the Payroll Manager, you will hold full responsibility for the comprehensive payroll operations covering in excess of 3,000 employees across various Irish entities and payroll groups. Your role includes supervising salary calculations, overtime, bonuses, shift differentials, benefit-in-kind, pension deductions, and statutory withholdings, ensuring precise and punctual payroll delivery.
You will act as the payroll subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with Irish payroll laws, Revenue Authority mandates, PAYE Modernisation, tax, social insurance, and other statutory requirements. In addition, you will lead payroll system improvements including Sage Payroll, drive automation, and mentor a team of payroll specialists to achieve high performance and outstanding stakeholder service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all payroll functions for a workforce exceeding 3,000 employees in Ireland.
- Serve as the expert on Irish payroll legislation and compliance regulations.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to PAYE Modernisation, tax, and social insurance requirements.
- Administer payroll elements such as salaries, bonuses, shift allowances, benefit-in-kind, pensions, and statutory deductions.
- Lead initiative for payroll process enhancement, system upgrades including Sage Payroll, and automation strategies.
- Coach and develop payroll team members, setting performance expectations and service standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 7 years of payroll experience with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
- Proven experience managing payroll for more than 3,000 Irish employees and in-depth knowledge of Sage Payroll.
- Thorough understanding of Irish payroll laws, Revenue compliance, and audit procedures.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with excellent stakeholder collaboration and leadership skills.
- Expertise in handling payroll audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with multinational and matrix organization structures is advantageous.
