Assistant Housekeeping Manager

Overview

This entry-level management role supports daily operations within Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry areas at a luxury hotel. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supervises employees in cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and public areas, conducts inspections, enforces corrective actions, and helps maintain guest satisfaction and budgetary control.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations relevant to housekeeping operations.
• Manage lost and found procedures efficiently.
• Coordinate assignments by preparing lists of rooms to clean immediately and upcoming check-outs or discharges.
• Inventory and control adequate housekeeping supplies and linens.
• Communicate guest room status promptly to Front Desk and collaborate with Engineering department on maintenance needs.
• Ensure strict adherence to loss prevention policies and proper availability of supplies, equipment, and uniforms for staff.
• Supervise daily shift activities, uphold housekeeping standards, and oversee rooms and public space inspections.
• Support guest service excellence by addressing guest complaints and reviewing satisfaction feedback with staff.
• Empower and train employees to consistently deliver high-quality customer service within established guidelines.
• Engage in human resource functions such as employee training, accident investigation, performance monitoring, coaching, payroll management, staffing, hiring, disciplinary procedures, and scheduling via Labor Management System.
• Fill in leadership roles during absence of Director or Housekeeping Manager and uphold positive guest relations.

Candidate Profile: Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional field, OR
• A 2-year degree from an accredited college in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline; no prior work experience required.
