Role Overview

The Application Engineer will provide technical support, with a strong focus on preparing customer quotations and supporting business development studies for composite-based applications. The role requires a good understanding of customer needs and the ability to quickly present suitable composite solutions, including pricing, timelines, and resource planning. The position also involves travel with the business development team to customer sites to discuss opportunities in detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to customer technical questions with clear analysis related to building management systems, project schedules, tooling costs, and recommended design or process improvements when needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to understand fabrication methods, suitable composite materials, and customer demand in order to prepare design details for internal teams and clients.
• Develop and deliver product and proposal presentations, including 3D views of finished products and tooling concepts.
• Prepare cost estimates by reviewing drawings, plans, and other customer documents, while coordinating with engineers and technical specialists.
• Create conceptual designs for composite parts and assemblies that support commercial proposals.
• Build solid and surface CAD models for components and assemblies.
• Prepare detailed bills of materials for proposal submissions.
• Work closely with design, engineering, and operations personnel as part of a cross-functional team.
• Use knowledge of ACMV and controls, especially Johnson Control Metasys, as an added advantage.

Candidate Profile

The role is suited to applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Process & Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Candidates should have knowledge of PLC programming and familiarity with Pcvue or ICONICS software. Experience with transportation composites or other composite applications is preferred. A willingness to learn is important.
