Company overview

Summerset is seeking a motivated and imaginative Activities Coordinator to help make life in its village vibrant and engaging. The organisation’s people play a central role in shaping the experience for residents from the earliest stages of development through to everyday village life, all with the goal of supporting residents to enjoy the best possible quality of life.

Role summary

This position is based at Summerset Mountain View village and is suited to someone who brings energy, warmth, and creativity to their work. Experience in events, hospitality, or aged care would be helpful, but the most important quality is a sincere interest in people from all backgrounds and life stages.

The coordinator will design and run a varied activity calendar and special events for residents, while also supporting resident wellbeing, working with vulnerable residents, and maintaining communication with families. The role calls for compassion, patience, and strong communication, along with a reasonable level of fitness to support exercise sessions, outings, and recreational or sporting programmes.

Working pattern

This is a full-time, onsite role, scheduled Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Create, organise, and deliver an engaging programme of activities and events for residents.
  • Support residents in a thoughtful and high-quality manner, including those who are vulnerable.
  • Keep in touch with families and communicate appropriately about residents’ wellbeing and activities.
  • Lead or assist with exercise sessions, outings, sports, and recreational events.
  • Ensure daily programmes are well structured, interesting, and run smoothly.

What you need to bring

  • A positive, practical attitude that helps build good relationships with both staff and residents.
  • Strong interpersonal ability, including the capacity to explain ideas clearly and generate interest and enthusiasm.
  • A genuine appreciation for working with older adults and a constructive outlook on ageing.
  • Good written communication skills tailored to the audience and the format.
  • Strong planning and multitasking ability.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • A current first aid certificate.
  • A valid driver licence.

Who can apply

Applications are welcome from people of all backgrounds and experiences. Summerset values transferable skills from other industries and encourages applicants who may not meet every listed requirement but can contribute their strengths and perspective.

Additional information

Summerset promotes a workplace built on care, teamwork, and a drive for excellence. The organisation also highlights a range of employee benefits, including Southern Cross Health Essentials Insurance, a provided uniform, birthday leave, and access to discounts from various suppliers.

Applications close on Friday 3 July, although the role may close earlier if a high number of applications are received. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply promptly.
