Job Overview

The Utility/Steward role involves operating and maintaining kitchen cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The incumbent ensures the kitchen environment is sanitary by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tools, knives, tables, and equipment. Proper storage of clean wares and efficient cycling of dishware through detergent and sanitizing chemicals is essential.

Primary Duties

• Operate and maintain various cleaning machines and tools to ensure kitchen cleanliness.
• Utilize the 3-compartment sink system with detergent, rinsing, and sanitizers to clean dishes thoroughly.
• Inspect cleaned items, stacking them correctly, and return any soiled items for re-cleaning.
• Handle silverware by sorting, soaking, washing, and re-washing as required.
• Manage waste by emptying trashcans, maintaining dumpster areas, and disposing of glass and recyclables responsibly.
• Break down dirty bus tubs and cardboard boxes, ensuring recyclables are properly segregated.
• Clean and mop all assigned departmental areas consistently.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

• Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

The position offers an hourly wage of $22.95.
