Role Overview
As the Technical Lead for the AI Scheduling backend team, you will innovate workforce scheduling by integrating AI and automation to assist managers in creating compliant, optimized schedules at scale. The role influences Deputy’s entire product and platform ecosystem, requiring leadership through design, implementation, and delivery of robust backend services. You'll set technical standards, make architectural decisions, and promote AI-driven enhancements across development processes.

- Write clean, modular, and maintainable code aligned with best practices and company principles.

- Share knowledge through documentation, code reviews, presentations, and discussions.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years programming experience with at least 2 years in senior engineering roles.
- Expertise in API design including REST and RPC using protobuf, gRPC, OpenAPI frameworks.
- Strong background in service-oriented architecture and microservices using tools such as Docker, ECS, Lambda, SQS, and Kinesis.
- Experience with persistence and caching technologies like MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB, and S3.
- Knowledge of Elasticsearch is a plus.
- Proficiency in PHP or Go is highly valued.
- Skilled in building fault-tolerant, observable systems using caching, queues, load balancing, and circuit breaking techniques.
- Innovative problem solver focused on optimization, performance, and user experience.
- Proven ability to lead by example and mentor engineers effectively.
- Track record of setting technical direction, architectural standards, and minimizing technical debt.
- Experienced in cross-functional project leadership with product, design, and engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid, quality software delivery.
- Adaptable to fast-paced, ambiguous environments and capable of decisive leadership.
