Overview

Together Housing Group is seeking a dedicated Labourer to join their Repairs & Maintenance team at the Blackburn depot, servicing the Lancashire region. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering quality workmanship and outstanding customer service. The Labourer will support skilled tradespeople by maintaining properties safe, clean, and prepared either for residents or further works, ensuring a "Right First Time" approach to repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform various labouring tasks across both occupied and vacant properties.
• Assist with repair and maintenance activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high standards.
• Execute tasks such as surface preparation, painting, wallpaper removal, and finishing works.
• Safely dismantle kitchens, bathrooms, fixtures, fittings, and dispose of waste, leaving properties clean and ready for next steps.
• Collaborate closely with trade colleagues to enhance productivity and repair completion rates.
• Deliver repairs that are resolved effectively on the first visit whenever possible.
• Engage professionally with customers, ensuring excellent customer service throughout all interactions.
• Conduct dynamic risk assessments and comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records through paper or electronic methods.
• Measure required works, identify material needs, and procure materials accordingly.
• Be responsible for the safe use and security of company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials.
• Keep company vehicles clean, perform daily checks, and report any defects promptly.

Candidate Profile

• Experience with manual handling and practical working environments.
• Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Prior experience in repairs and maintenance settings is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of health and safety and safe work practices.
• Basic knowledge of construction trades and site safety.
• Capability to independently organize workload efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Experience documenting work accurately and using handheld or electronic systems.
• Dependable, flexible, and positive approach towards work.
• Respectful and professional attitude towards customers, demonstrating empathy.
• Possession of a full UK manual driving licence due to travel requirements across properties using a company van.
• Flexibility to work additional hours when needed to meet service demands.

Benefits and Work Conditions

• Annual starting salary of £25,878.
• 27 days of holiday annually, increasing to 32 days after five years, plus bank holidays.
• Position based at the Blackburn depot covering the Lancashire area.
• Flexible work environment with family-friendly policies.
• Standard working hours total 37 per week, typically Monday to Thursday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Friday 8:00 AM–3:30 PM; however, scheduled hours may vary between 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM Monday through Saturday depending on business needs.
