Pet Valu operates a family of stores including Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet, forming one of North America's largest retail networks committed to providing pet food and supplies for a diverse range of animals such as dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small pets. Our mission extends beyond retail, as we actively support local animal shelters, rescues, and charities through adoption events, in-store adoption (at select locations), pet food bank initiatives, national donation drives, and fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve customers as a cashier and assist with sales transactions
- Handle preparation of merchandise orders, processing banking activities, and managing various paperwork
- Stock smaller merchandise items weighing under 10 pounds throughout the sales area
- Conduct general maintenance tasks such as sweeping and dusting to maintain store cleanliness
- Assist in unloading delivery trucks carrying cases and bags of pet food or supplies up to 50 pounds and ensure proper stocking
- Open and close the store effectively adhering to company procedures
- When Store Manager or Assistant Manager are absent, assign daily goals and tasks to Associates
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support store operations
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of two years’ experience in retail or customer service roles
- Proficient with operating POS systems
- Friendly and outgoing demeanor coupled with strong customer service abilities
- Capable of repeatedly lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work various schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs demand
- Reliable transportation to commute to and from the store
- Possession of a valid driver’s license may be necessary
