Financial Controller

Role overview

Fortivum is expanding its international engineering consultancy operations across Europe, Africa, and the US, and is hiring a Financial Controller to take charge of the finance function. The position is based in Dublin with a hybrid working arrangement and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

This opportunity is suited to a commercially aware finance professional who enjoys both hands-on financial leadership and wider business improvement work. In this role, you will support senior leadership and help build the finance function for a growing multi-entity international organisation.

What you'll do

You will own the day-to-day finance operations across several legal entities, with responsibility for reporting, cash management, compliance, and internal control. You will also work closely with operational teams to strengthen commercial performance.

A major focus of the role will be leading the finance side of a new ERP implementation, ensuring the business has a scalable system in place for future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Run the monthly close process and deliver accurate financial reporting each month.
• Prepare management accounts, board packs, and detailed financial analysis.
• Handle statutory reporting, external audit coordination, and group consolidation activities.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital requirements.
• Maintain tax, VAT, and regulatory compliance across several jurisdictions.
• Assist with project accounting, revenue recognition, and wider commercial performance tracking.
• Own the finance workstream for the ERP rollout, including process mapping, data migration, testing, and transition planning.
• Improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls on an ongoing basis.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent qualification, with at least three years of post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance position.

You should be comfortable working in a multi-entity and/or international business, with strong experience in financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial control. Prior involvement in ERP implementation, systems migration, or finance transformation projects is also important.

A collaborative mindset, strong commercial judgement, and sharp analytical ability are essential. Experience in engineering, construction, professional services, or another project-driven environment would be a plus.
