Job description
Role Overview
This position involves enhancing and managing pricing strategies specifically for the UAE road freight and transport segments. The role requires thorough market, competitor, and operational cost analysis to create pricing schemes that maximize profitability and competitiveness in domestic and cross-border freight services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and improve pricing approaches for UAE road freight offerings, including full truckload (FTL), less than truckload (LTL), dedicated fleets, and cross-border routes.
- Perform ongoing evaluations of the UAE and GCC road freight markets, competitor pricing tactics, customer demand, and logistics capacity to find opportunities that increase revenue and sales conversions.
- Analyze various cost factors such as fuel, toll charges, driver wages, vehicle maintenance, leasing fees, utilization rates, and subcontractor charges to support sustainable pricing decisions.
- Identify ways to boost revenue and profit margins through pricing reviews, optimizing routes, customer segmentation, contract discussions, and providing value-added transport services.
- Assist commercial teams during negotiations with customers, transport suppliers, subcontractors, and service vendors to achieve commercially sound and competitive pricing agreements.
- Track key pricing and operational performance indicators like margin outcomes, utilization rates, revenue per vehicle, profitability by route, and customer yields to guide data-informed pricing adjustments.
- Ensure pricing actions comply fully with company policies, local UAE transport laws, contracts, and governance standards.
- Evaluate and address risks related to pricing fluctuations caused by fuel price changes, border and route constraints, capacity shifts, and market dynamics.
- Develop collaborative relationships with internal units—operations, fleet management, finance, commercial—and external partners, including customers, subcontractors, and carriers, to provide clear pricing support and resolve issues promptly.
- Support customer-facing teams by preparing competitive quotes, tenders, RFQs, and pricing proposals consistent with operational capabilities and margin targets to improve proposal success rates.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years working in road freight pricing, transport operations, freight forwarding, or logistics sectors.
- Demonstrable success in developing pricing strategies, transport cost analysis, and conducting commercial negotiations with vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong experience analyzing cost components related to road freight and managing margins for both domestic and cross-border shipments.
- Background in supporting bids, tenders, and pricing submissions in transport or logistics settings.
- Experience in asset-intensive logistics or freight management businesses is preferred.
- Familiarity with UAE and wider GCC freight markets, regulatory environment, and cross-border trade logistics.
- Knowledge of transport management software (TMS), pricing automation systems, telematics, and revenue optimization tools.
- Experience working with fleet utilization metrics, route planning, and productivity indicators.
