Position Overview

The Engineering Work Scheduler plays a vital role within Etihad Rail Infrastructure’s Engineering Delivery Team, focusing on the scheduling, coordination, and optimization of Engineering Hours possessions throughout the UAE rail network. Reporting directly to the Engineering Delivery Manager, this position involves crafting precise and efficient possession plans. These plans ensure coordinated timelines for planned activities, workgroup access, rail vehicle movements, and operational constraints in preparation for possession execution.

The role is essential for developing the Daily Engineering Hours Possession Plan and supplying Engineering Controllers with necessary information and documentation for safe and efficient possession management in line with company protocols. The position demands skills in possession planning, stakeholder management, handling potential conflicts, and continuous process improvement with an emphasis on safety, productivity, and quality planning.

Acting as the central daytime coordinator, the Scheduler manages late requests, cancellations, scope adjustments, and potential access conflicts, facilitating smooth communication and planning across the business. Additionally, the role includes reviewing persistent issues impacting possession outcomes and contributing to enhancements in planning and delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Review weekly possession limits and timings based on the Weekly Engineering Track Plan (WETP) to coordinate access for workgroups, rail vehicle needs, and resolve conflicts.
• Develop and update the Daily Engineering Hours Possession Plan to maintain the most actionable and current possession schedule for all relevant personnel.
• Prepare briefing materials including activity schedules, workgroup sequence, access priorities, route necessities, and known operational constraints for Engineering Controllers.
• Detect and resolve scheduling conflicts such as clashes with train services, excessive personnel on site, access conflicts, Off-Track Movement (OTM) transit issues, and unrealistic task durations.
• Manage daytime changes including late requests, cancellations, scope modifications, and shifting priorities, ensuring Engineering Controllers have timely updates before shift commencement.
• Sequence and optimize worksite activities to maximize Engineering Hours usage, reduce idle access times, and prioritize essential tasks when full project scope can’t be completed.
• Document, validate, and ensure quality of possession plans, briefing documents, access lists, special constraints, and route requirements before dissemination.
• Conduct trend analysis on recurring possession delays, late handbacks, utilization gaps, cancellations, and errors to inform process improvements.
• Provide continuity support by serving as the single point of contact for all changes related to Engineering Hours possessions, aiding business continuity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Desired minimum education level: High School certificate.
• Professional knowledge of the entire Etihad Rail Network is advantageous.
• Holder of a valid driving license.
• Prior experience in railway environments and possession planning is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with IT tools and equipment.
• Strong planning capabilities and adept at prioritizing competing demands within complex possession settings.
• Robust organizational skills and attention to detail.
