About Pronto AI
Pronto AI is a world leader in deploying autonomous vehicle technology, specifically Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) used in mining, quarrying, and construction. Unlike much of the industry still focusing on R&D, Pronto commercializes and operates fully functional autonomy systems worldwide. Our mission is to enhance mining safety, intelligence, and efficiency through advanced technology and to become the first profitable autonomous vehicle tech company globally.
Role Overview
The Field Engineer is a practical role responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Pronto's autonomous technology on heavy machinery at mining sites in Saudi Arabia. This hands-on position requires strong electrical and mechanical expertise and the ability to operate comfortably in outdoor industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Install hardware and software components on-site including sensor arrays, drive-by-wire kits, power integrations, and vehicle interfaces.
- Set up peripheral devices like network stations, gate mechanisms, and office infrastructure.
- Perform system calibrations and execute validation testing to ensure operational standards are met.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering and Customer teams to align field deployments with specifications and to contribute to research and development initiatives.
- Conduct routine maintenance to uphold system health and reliability.
- Monitor equipment conditions, noting wear, degradation, or environmental effects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Use diagnostic tools and data logs to identify root causes and implement repairs.
- Clearly communicate findings to engineering teams for continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary contact for Pronto on-site, maintaining professional and effective communication with customer personnel.
- Provide basic training to customer staff as necessary.
- Document all service activities, updates, and issues accurately using internal CRM and ticketing systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four years in roles involving field service, automotive electronics, mechatronics, or equivalent technical support.
- Experienced with hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and electrical testing devices.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including power systems, CAN bus networks, sensors, and ECUs.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Comfortable working autonomously in remote field environments with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with team members and customers.
Preferred Experience
- Background with autonomous vehicle technologies, machine control systems, robotics, or complex sensor installations.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and remote diagnostic methods.
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 10 or MSHA Part 48 or their equivalents.
Benefits and Work Environment
- Opportunity to work on deployed autonomous technology actively improving safety and efficiency.
- Engage with challenging real-world problems in demanding settings.
- Be part of an agile team with significant ownership and visible impact.
- Work alongside skilled engineers and industry professionals.
- On-site accommodation provided during deployment rotations.
- Mining operational schedule includes rotations like two weeks onsite followed by one week off.
- Compliance with all site health and safety standards is mandatory.
Additional Information
- Position is fully on-site at mining operations in Saudi Arabia.
- Fieldwork involves rugged, outdoor mining environments.
