Role Overview
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Supervisor will oversee day-to-day site construction operations. The position is responsible for leading field crews so work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Site Supervisor acts as the main contact for the Project Manager, subcontractors, and the client, and is responsible for accurate and timely crew timesheet submission.
Key Duties
- Direct and coordinate all activities at the construction site to align with drawings, technical specifications, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Supervise, guide, and support field crews while building productivity, accountability, and collaboration.
- Make sure crew timesheets are completed and submitted every day.
- Serve as the main communication link between the company, client representatives, subcontractors, and on-site teams.
- Model and reinforce a strong safety culture by following company safety rules and procedures.
- Record and report incidents and injuries, including preparing the required documentation and informing the Safety Manager.
- Work with the Project Manager to keep work moving on schedule through effective planning of labour, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Check workmanship quality to ensure it matches design documents and project requirements.
- Coach, train, and encourage team members to support continuous improvement and safe work habits.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and client to review, track, and resolve RFIs and change orders.
- Support internal and external audits, site inspections, and compliance-related activities.
Additional Information
This is a safety-sensitive role. Employment depends on successfully completing pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, along with criminal and general background checks.
Work Schedule
- Rotation patterns may include 4 days on / 3 days off, 8 days on / 6 days off, 5 days on / 2 days off, and similar schedules.
- Regular shifts are 10 hours long, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Overtime is paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and after 40 hours per week.
- For out-of-town assignments, the company provides either all-inclusive camp lodging or LOA with individual accommodations, depending on the project.
Requirements
- A degree in Construction Management or a related discipline, or a Journeyperson PSE/Electrician designation.
- A valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Experience with medium- to high-voltage substation construction is considered an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of construction methods, safety rules, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and reading engineering drawings.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
