Overview

The Assistant Sales Manager in the hotel sector supports the Sales Manager in crafting and implementing sales initiatives aimed at enhancing the hotel's revenue streams, occupancy rates, and business growth. This role emphasizes cultivating new business, strengthening ties with corporate and leisure clients, boosting revenues from rooms and events, and contributing to the hotel's overall commercial success.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing sales and business development plans within the hotel.
  • Explore and develop fresh business prospects across diverse segments including corporate, leisure, travel trade, and government sectors.
  • Engage in sales calls, client meetings, presentations, and property tours to promote the hotel’s offerings.
  • Build and nurture lasting relationships with corporate accounts, travel agents, tour operators, and other key partners.
  • Convert leads into confirmed bookings for rooms, events, and meetings.
  • Market hotel facilities such as rooms, F&B outlets, banquet and meeting spaces.
  • Meet assigned individual and collective sales goals.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to encourage repeat business and ensure satisfaction.
  • Handle corporate and key accounts proactively and spot opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts adhering to hotel policies.
  • Address client concerns by collaborating with relevant operational departments.
  • Track market trends, competitor actions, pricing strategies, and business opportunities.
  • Support promotional campaigns and package creation in line with market demands.
  • Identify untapped market segments and revenue potential.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Management and Reservations to optimize occupancy and income.
  • Assist with sales efforts related to conferences, corporate gatherings, weddings, banquets, and group bookings.
  • Conduct site inspections and draft proposals for prospective clients.
  • Work with Event, Banquet, Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Operations teams to ensure flawless event execution.
  • Keep detailed records of sales activities, client interactions, leads, and prospects.
  • Prepare and submit sales activity reports and pipeline updates to the Sales Manager.
  • Update and maintain the hotel's CRM and client databases.
  • Monitor competitor activities and contribute market insights.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and business planning tasks.
  • Offer guidance and supervision to Sales Executives and support team leadership as needed.
  • Help achieve department objectives and roll out new sales strategies.
  • Represent the hotel professionally in exhibitions, trade fairs, networking, and industry events.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Three to five years of pertinent sales experience in the hotel or hospitality sector, preferably including supervisory or senior sales roles.
  • Thorough understanding of hotel sales processes, corporate account management, travel trade, room sales, and event/banquet business.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales quotas and foster new business development.
  • Excellent skills in communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal relations.
  • Knowledge of the local hospitality market and corporate clients is favorable.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and hotel Property Management Systems/CRM is essential.
  • Proficient in English; Arabic or additional languages are advantageous.
  • Professional appearance, confidence, commercially oriented, and customer service focused.
