Role Overview
As a Staff Software Engineer focusing on backend development, you will design and implement scalable, reliable distributed systems using Java and microservices architecture. You will actively participate in architecture discussions, develop high-performance APIs and services, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-availability products.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop scalable distributed systems leveraging Java and microservices.
- Engage in system design deliberations and provide input during architecture reviews.
- Create resilient APIs and microservices ensuring low latency and high uptime.
- Work closely with teams across Product, Data, and DevOps to release quality software.
- Enhance system scalability and performance for large-scale datasets.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and promote the adoption of engineering best practices.
Candidate Profile
- 9 to 12 years of practical experience in backend software development using Java.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, system architecture, and microservices design.
- Proficiency with NoSQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Hands-on skill with event streaming frameworks such as Kafka and Spark.
- Demonstrated experience developing large-scale, cloud-native applications.
- Familiarity with big data platforms or services such as Databricks, Snowflake, or related technologies is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to take ownership and thrive in a fast-moving product-driven environment.
