Job description
About the Role
Our aim is to revolutionize global data usage to enhance life universally through innovation and integrity. Join a diverse, dedicated team driving breakthroughs such as virtual reality and neural network advances, while fostering sustainability and community contributions.
As a Process Engineer focusing on Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) within Micron’s NAND Process Development team in Singapore, you will lead start-up, development, and optimization of processes targeted at 3D NAND and future technology nodes. Your efforts will enhance product quality, yield, cost-efficiency, and productivity, while solving manufacturing challenges using methodologies like failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, and SPC/FDC.
Key Responsibilities
- Own CMP process module characterization and advanced process development for current and next-generation 3D NAND technologies.
- Collaborate with local and US-based engineers and vendors to design processes meeting integration needs of future 3D NAND nodes.
- Transfer CMP processes into high-volume manufacturing (Fab10N) and continuously improve manufacturability.
- Resolve process-related issues alongside the Fab10N team and business partners, including equipment selection and evaluation.
- Enhance process margins to achieve mature yield objectives for 3D NAND products.
- Conduct fundamental research, develop consumables, evaluate hardware, and test new process applications.
- Lead experimental initiatives to expand process tolerance and validate manufacturability of new node solutions.
- Drive identification and implementation of process simplifications with cross-functional teams.
- Embed best manufacturing practices into early-stage development for upcoming nodes.
- Design and establish advanced process monitoring and control systems.
- Act as a technical authority, initiating improvements in processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects of strategic significance and provide expert counsel to management on critical technical matters.
- Foster global partnerships and adhere to strict intellectual property policies.
- Engage continuously with worldwide suppliers to promote breakthrough solutions.
- Leverage artificial intelligence to streamline workflows, optimize processes, support innovation, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and sharing AI-based enhancements within scope of work.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; alternatively, a Master’s degree with at least three years' experience or Bachelor’s with five years in related fields.
- Hands-on experience with advanced CMP polishing equipment such as Applied Materials (AMAT) or EBARA tools.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and sound decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with data analysis systems, such as Y3, for experimental data interpretation.
- Competence in Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.
- Successful collaboration experience with geographically distributed teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information succinctly and effectively.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, high-demand environments while managing multiple concurrent projects.
