Lead - BI & Analytics Platforms

Overview

Suncorp New Zealand is dedicated to enhancing its data and analytics capabilities to enable smarter decision-making, superior customer experiences, and innovative work approaches. We are seeking a seasoned Lead for BI & Analytics Platforms to join our Performance & Analytics team. This role is critical in guiding the governance, setting standards, and directing the future path of our business intelligence and analytics ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and develop BI and analytics platform standards, governance structures, and operational frameworks.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for enterprise BI platforms including Power BI, Tableau, and Cognos.
• Implement and promote best practices in BI development, data modelling, dashboard creation, code management, and deployment procedures.
• Advocate for and support modern analytics tools such as Python, Posit, Git, and Bitbucket.
• Oversee the delivery, maintenance, and enhancement of reporting and dashboard solutions across the company.
• Provide coaching and skill development within the broader analytics community through training and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, scalability, and performance in analytics deliverables.
• Collaborate with business, technology, and analytics teams to create suitable solutions.
• Explore and facilitate the integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and large language models.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data environments.
• Expertise in Power BI and working knowledge of enterprise BI platforms like Tableau or Cognos.
• Proficient in advanced SQL and experienced in Python programming.
• Familiar with Git, Bitbucket, and software development lifecycle best practices.
• Experience creating governance frameworks, standards, and designing scalable analytics systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence diverse groups both technical and non-technical.
• Demonstrated ability to enhance processes, drive tool adoption, and lead initiatives without formal authority.
• Keen interest in innovation and utilizing emerging technologies to generate business value.
• Experience in general insurance is a significant advantage.
• Academic background with tertiary qualifications in quantitative, technical, or related fields.
