Data Conversion Engineer

Role Overview

As a Data Conversion Engineer at IDEXX located in Auckland, New Zealand, you will oversee the end-to-end technical process of transferring and transforming customer data during client onboarding to IDEXX's software platforms. Collaboration with implementation teams is crucial to ensure all conversions are precise, timely, and designed for durability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of data conversion projects from initial planning phase through to live deployment, ensuring timely and accurate migration of client data.
• Collaborate closely with implementation consultants, project managers, and technical experts to coordinate conversion schedules aligned with client onboarding timelines.
• Maintain transparent and proactive communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the conversion process.
• Conduct data quality checks, execute trial data conversions, and troubleshoot data-related issues prior to production deployment.
• Enhance and develop the automated data conversion framework and tools to support scalable conversion processes.
• Provide mentorship to junior onboarding engineers, aiding them to advance to intermediate skill levels.
• Effectively juggle multiple priorities and occasionally adjust work hours to support client go-live events outside usual business hours.
• Produce clear and comprehensive documentation of processes to benefit the wider team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency in several programming languages with solid backend development experience, particularly in Python and PHP.
• Strong enthusiasm for data handling, data structures, and database management including data migration between systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities, comfortable engaging directly with both clients and internal teams.
• Demonstrated capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
• Skilled in producing accurate and clear technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AWS, cloud architecture, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Previous experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff members.
• Exposure to data conversion or migration frameworks is advantageous.
