Data Center Controls Facilities Technician

Overview

Join Google's Data Center team in Singapore as a Controls Facilities Technician responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting critical physical infrastructure systems. This role involves working with sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems to maintain optimal facility conditions ensuring efficient data center performance.

Primary Duties

• Inspect, maintain, and repair data center hardware including servers, network devices, PLCs, access control systems, alarms, and SCADA systems.
• Interpret technical blueprints, schematics, ladder logic, and operation sequences to evaluate system health and guide maintenance work.
• Monitor control, logging, and alarm systems to detect and manage abnormal facility conditions promptly.
• Operate and oversee data center facility systems, responding swiftly to issues to minimize downtime.
• Assist in the startup, commissioning, and integration of new control equipment within the facility infrastructure.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess an Associate's degree, trade certification, or equivalent experience related to technical fields. A minimum of five years working in Controls or Automation within industrial or commercial settings is required.

Applicants should be physically capable of handling materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and must be comfortable using safety gear such as harnesses, ladders, and work platforms in strict accordance with ergonomic and safety policies. Flexibility to work non-standard hours and varied shift rotations is necessary.

Preferred credentials include industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, ISA CCST, or other vendor-specific qualifications. Experience in critical environments like data centers, power plants, hospitals, or industrial sites is beneficial. Familiarity with BMS/PMS platforms such as Rockwell, Schneider Electric, or Siemens is advantageous, alongside proven troubleshooting skills with PLCs, HMIs, and understanding of how control systems interact with data center power and cooling infrastructures.
