The Office of AI governs the strategy, infrastructure, and overall enablement of AI initiatives within Usercentrics, operating under the CTO office with influence across all departments. Our mission is to facilitate safe, responsible, and effective AI adoption throughout the company.

Role Overview

This senior leadership position entails end-to-end responsibility for the Office of AI’s delivery, spanning two key components: the engineering platforms and tools, and the organizational AI adoption among business users.

You will champion AI usage outcomes that are measurable through each department's KPIs, progressing real-world AI applications in finance, legal, HR, marketing, customer success, BI, and beyond. Simultaneously, you will oversee the internal AI platform that enables an 80+ engineer organization to accelerate and secure AI development.

Leading a small, expert team comprising an AI platform engineer, an AI governance and risk compliance engineer, two enablement engineers, and an enablement lead, you’ll provide strategic direction, evaluate technical work rigorously, and own results without direct platform development.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive measurable AI adoption across business functions by discovering use cases and delivering production systems aligned with functional KPIs.
• Spearhead the AI enablement program, maintaining the champion network, enhancing AI literacy company-wide, and managing the cross-functional use-case pipeline.
• Expand and structure the enablement function, identifying necessary roles, advocating for growth, and leading hiring processes.
• Manage and cultivate a mixed team of technical and non-technical members, overseeing recruitment, performance evaluation, and career progression.
• Shape and execute the Office of AI’s platform roadmap, advancing existing tools such as AI Hub, MCP servers, Claude connector integrations, skill hubs, usage analytics, automation, and governance protocols.
• Explore and implement next-generation platform layers including LLM access gateways, Retrieval-Augmented Generation infrastructure, model operations, and integration standards.
• Exercise decisive technical judgment by critically assessing designs and evaluations, welcoming peer feedback across the Office of AI engineering team.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and governance measures ensuring swift yet reliable AI deployment with quality control, hallucination detection, and regression testing.
• Partner with AI leadership and other organizational units (Security, Legal, Platform Engineering) to deliver safe, compliant, and widely adopted AI solutions.
• Translate broad AI strategies into explicit, measurable roadmaps and outcomes that align with Usercentrics’ company-wide objectives.

Qualifications

• Over a decade of experience in software engineering, including at least four years managing engineering teams.
• Strong technical authority capable of critically reviewing architectural and evaluation designs, confidently challenging senior engineers.
• Proven delivery of AI production systems involving LLMs, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, or applied machine learning.
• Robust knowledge of distributed systems, backend platform architecture, and cloud services (Azure or GCP), with a capacity to define standards.
• Demonstrated success implementing AI solutions adopted by non-technical business units, tracking impact through measurable outcomes.
• Ability to engage business leaders across functions such as Finance and Legal to identify valuable use cases and enforce accountability on outcomes.
• Experience in growing senior talent and cultivating dynamic, high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including clear and effective asynchronous and written correspondence.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps practices.
• Expertise in AI governance, evaluation methodologies, and responsible AI deployment.
• Background in regulated industries or privacy-centric domains.
• Recognition as a developer advocate, community leader, or conference speaker.
• Entrepreneurial experience such as former founder or CTO roles.
