About the Role
Dolby is looking for a senior engineer to strengthen its client-side application team. In this role, you will help deliver stable, high-quality consumer software at scale, with an initial focus on Dolby’s PC application portfolio and the possibility of working across other client applications as business needs change.
This is a senior hands-on individual contributor position. You will take technical ownership of complex features and subsystems, make autonomous engineering decisions, and support other engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Work on consumer-facing client applications used by millions of people worldwide.
- Be part of an engineering culture that values clarity, ownership, and maintainable long-term solutions.
- Use modern delivery practices, including automation and CI/CD.
- Grow through deep technical ownership, mentoring, and senior-level leadership opportunities.
- Apply your expertise across different products, platforms, and technologies as the portfolio develops.
Key Responsibilities
- Spend most of your time designing, building, and reviewing production-ready code.
- Lead the design and implementation of complex features and subsystems across client applications.
- Own technical areas from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term support.
- Make independent engineering decisions while balancing quality, performance, reliability, and delivery targets.
- Create and maintain automated tests at multiple levels to strengthen confidence and stability.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and engineering processes that enable predictable, high-quality releases.
- Work closely with QA, product, design, and other engineering partners.
- Coach teammates through code reviews, pair work, and technical discussions.
- Help raise team engineering standards and contribute to a strong technical culture.
Required Experience and Skills
- Strong professional software development background with a proven record of building and maintaining production applications.
- Practical experience with C# and modern object-oriented design, including long-term ownership of complex features or subsystems.
- Working knowledge of Universal Windows Platform (UWP).
- Experience developing Windows desktop or platform-level applications.
- Ability to understand C++ well enough to read, debug, or collaborate on native components.
- Experience handling software end to end, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Comfort working independently and making sound technical trade-offs between quality, performance, and delivery.
- Proven collaboration skills with QA, product, and design teams in cross-functional environments.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of mentoring engineers through code reviews and day-to-day collaboration.
- Interest in modern Windows development, including WinUI and Windows SDK-based approaches.
- Experience with software or systems that evolve over time, including architectural or platform transitions.
