Role overview
This Melbourne-based Corporate IT role is suited to an experienced infrastructure professional who can balance hands-on support with ownership of local services and participation in wider regional and global initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Corporate IT, the position will support the Melbourne office while also helping users and managing platforms across multiple locations.
You will act as the most senior IT contact in the Melbourne office, helping deliver dependable and secure technology services through proactive support, hardware and software maintenance, collaboration tools support, strong documentation, and improvements to systems and processes. The role also includes mentoring other IT team members in Australia.
This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days each week in the Melbourne office. Additional onsite attendance may be required depending on operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide follow-the-sun support and serve as a senior escalation contact for IT incidents and service requests while meeting SLA targets.
- Deliver strong onsite assistance to Melbourne-based users and remote support for colleagues around the world.
- Set up, maintain, and support end-user devices such as laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices across Windows and macOS.
- Handle onboarding and offboarding activities so employees have a smooth joiner or leaver experience.
- Support meeting room technology, video conferencing platforms, and audio-visual equipment.
- Investigate and resolve issues involving end-user computing, business applications, networking, and authentication.
- Keep documentation, knowledge articles, and asset records accurate and up to date.
- Assist with procurement, vendor management, and lifecycle planning for IT assets.
- Support cybersecurity work such as endpoint protection, identity and access controls, compliance activities, and security awareness.
- Contribute to global IT improvement programs and deployments, including Mac rollout, application migration, and network upgrades.
- Look for opportunities to simplify processes, increase automation, and improve service quality.
- Escalate complex technical matters to senior engineers when needed.
- Support the development and rollout of internal IT initiatives within the Corporate IT environment.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of practical experience in a hands-on IT support position with responsibility for onsite services and user devices.
- Strong troubleshooting ability across Windows, macOS, hardware, networking, and collaboration tools.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions, and collaborate across time zones.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to documentation and standardisation.
- Experience supporting Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 environments is desirable.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence is desirable.
- ITIL Foundations certification is desirable.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco are desirable.
- Experience with corporate network environments or cloud identity solutions is desirable.
