Role summary

Salvos Stores is hiring a qualified driver for a permanent, full-time position in Lismore, NSW. Reporting to the Transport Supervisor, the role focuses on collecting donated goods from donor homes, clothing bins, and stores in a timely and accurate manner. The position also involves interacting directly with the public and assessing items to decide whether they are suitable for resale.

Key duties

• Collect, load, and unload a variety of goods, including loose items and furniture.
• Carry out labouring work and, with a jockey, handle reasonable lifting and carrying tasks.
• Deliver goods to stores and support retail staff when needed.
• Provide a professional and courteous experience to customers and donors.
• Use an electronic device to complete delivery and collection paperwork.
• Follow safe work and driving practices at all times.
• Carry out pre-start vehicle checks and report incidents, near misses, and maintenance concerns.
• Keep the vehicle clean and tidy.

What we are looking for

Experience in multi-drop driving, courier work, or furniture removals is valued but not mandatory. The essential requirements are a Medium Rigid licence, strong time management, dependability, and a proactive attitude. The successful applicant should present well, bring energy and a hands-on approach, and demonstrate a strong history of excellent customer service. You should also be comfortable working with limited supervision and be aligned with the organisation’s mission and values.

Requirements and eligibility

• At least 1 year of experience driving a Medium Rigid vehicle.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and Medium Rigid licence, or higher.
• Confident driving ability and a proven commitment to safety.
• Experience in multi-drop, courier, or furniture removal work is an advantage.
• Reasonable written and spoken communication skills.
• Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Legal right to work in Australia.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
