Role overview

Boots UK is seeking a store-based Dispenser to join the pharmacy team in Ruthin, Wales. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

You will work in the healthcare area of the store, build trusted relationships with patients, listen to their needs, and help them with everything from greeting and prescription processing to guidance on the safe use of medicines. The role gives you the chance to use your healthcare knowledge to help customers make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, with rates rising to £16.64 in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

• Process prescriptions from end to end, including ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and handing them over safely.
• Partner with store healthcare colleagues to support the operation and delivery of pharmacy services.
• Offer advice on medicines and health concerns, and escalate questions to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
• Stay current with in-store innovations and carry out operational processes accurately.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.

Technology and development

You will work with evolving in-store systems and modern dispensing tools that help improve patient safety and free up more time to spend with patients. Regular updates and training will be provided to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, along with development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.

Requirements

• You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or currently be working toward it with at least the first year of an MPharm completed.
• You must have a current and valid UK right to work.
• This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
• Experience in a community pharmacy would be an advantage.

Eligibility and location rules
