Data Engineer

About the role

EY is seeking a Data Engineer for a 12-month contract role in Doha, Qatar. This position is intended for an Arabic-speaking professional who can work onsite and contribute to data-driven problem solving within a globally connected team.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with business teams to understand operational challenges and convert them into analytical and research-based assignments.
• Determine which data sources are most relevant and define the data needed for analysis.
• Collect, clean, and organize datasets so they are accurate, consistent, and ready for use.
• Carry out detailed analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
• Summarize findings and present clear recommendations that help stakeholders make informed decisions.

Experience, qualifications, and criteria

• A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or another closely related analytical discipline is required.
• Applicants should have at least 10 years of proven experience in data analytics or a comparable analytical function.
• A Data Analytics Professional Certificate is preferred.

Language requirements

• Arabic fluency is mandatory.
• Strong command of English is also required.

Technical skills

• Strong mathematical and analytical ability for working with data collection, measurement, organization, and interpretation.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, and Oracle.
• Experience with data models, database design and development, segmentation, and data mining methods.
• Hands-on exposure to reporting tools, databases, and frameworks such as XML, ETL, and JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid understanding of statistical techniques used to examine datasets.
• Familiarity with large-scale data environments such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
• Proficiency in data visualization platforms including Power BI and Tableau.
• Ability to design and use algorithms to generate insights and practical solutions from data.
