Role Overview
Ampacity is hiring an Associate Project Manager to support growth in commercial and utility-scale solar construction. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in renewable energy and looking to develop within a company that values strong culture and work-life balance.
The role partners closely with Project Managers across all stages of solar construction projects, including scheduling, budget tracking, safety compliance, and client coordination. The work may involve several active projects at once across different sites, so the ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders.
This is a field-based position and requires 100% travel to project locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities across several simultaneous projects by working with Project Managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to keep schedules, goals, and deliverables moving forward.
- Work with the operations team to identify issues early and help resolve unexpected challenges before they affect project milestones.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to support planning and execution, including subcontractor recommendations and onboarding.
- Partner with Supply Chain to track material availability and highlight procurement risks as soon as they appear.
- Assist with budget preparation, schedule development, and contract review alongside senior Project Managers.
- Help maintain safety compliance on all assigned job sites and escalate any concerns quickly.
- Keep project records, databases, and documentation accurate and up to date for reporting and decision-making.
- Provide routine status updates to management and Project Managers, including risk highlights and recommended next steps.
Candidate Profile
- At least 1 year of project management experience, ideally in solar or renewable energy construction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across internal teams, clients, and field staff.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and hold others accountable in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Working knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and budgeting in a construction setting.
- Ability to review and understand technical documents, drawings, and specifications related to solar construction.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected pay range for this role is USD 90,000 to USD 100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
- Competitive total compensation, including salary and 401(k) for eligible employees.
- Paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, parental leave, and bereavement leave.
- Health and wellness support designed to help employees maintain balance inside and outside work.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus additional health assistance.
- Opportunities for career progression, internal promotions, and training programs.
- A diverse and inclusive workplace culture that values people as individuals.
Equal Opportunity and Accommodation
All qualified applicants will be considered without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
The employer is committed to equal opportunity, including for individuals with disabilities and protected veteran status.
