Selection process
- 1 Where applications are numerous, UPSC may apply shortlisting criteria: higher desirable qualifications, higher-than-minimum educational qualification, higher-than-minimum relevant experience, experience before/after acquiring essential qualification, experience not otherwise prescribed, or a Recruitment Test
- 2 Minimum level of suitability at interview (out of 100 marks): UR–50, OBC–45, SC/ST/PH–40
- 3 Where an RT precedes the interview, candidates must clear the minimum suitability level at both stages; the RT qualifying level is decided case-by-case by UPSC
- 4 Where an RT/CRT is held, it will ordinarily be conducted at: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Ranchi, and Visakhapatnam (Leh/Kargil/Srinagar/Delhi for Ladakh UT posts)
- 5 Candidature is provisional at every stage; mere fulfilment of minimum qualification/experience does not guarantee a call for interview
- 6 Where sufficient eligible PwBD candidates are not available for exclusively-reserved posts, the experience requirement (years, not nature) may be relaxed up to 50%
