Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will be involved in contract management, cost estimation, financial control, and client liaison specific to mechanical and electrical disciplines. This role requires a proactive approach to delivering precise and profitable project outcomes while maintaining strict adherence to contractual obligations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze project contract documents in detail.
- Prepare and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Issue contractual documentation to suppliers and manage scope changes including pricing variations.
- Compile and agree on monthly progress claims and commercial reports.
- Maintain financial and contractual oversight over subcontractor accounts.
- Issue necessary contractual notices and appraise claims related to loss, expenses, or acceleration.
- Produce swift, accurate, and competitive estimates ensuring project profitability.
- Manage and forecast project cash flows effectively.
- Collaborate with clients, main contractors, and internal departments to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Provide management with data-driven analysis of project issues and risks.
- Perform all duties pertinent to the quantity surveying function.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess an academic degree or equivalent practical experience in the construction or engineering field.
- Have between 3 to 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or a related engineering role with solid commercial insight.
- Strong knowledge of subcontracts with an emphasis on mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Proficiency in numerical analysis and financial negotiation with clients and subcontractors.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential; experience with SAP is a plus.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Fluent English communication skills are mandatory, with local language proficiency viewed favorably.
