Role Overview
The Trading Manager position based in Newcastle West, Dublin, or Belfast is critical to the organization's expansion and maintaining its core value of customer focus. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, self-motivation, and a desire to improve skills continuously.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate with suppliers to reduce Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and outperform market standards.
- Achieve fixed annual budgets related to COGS above the line.
- Collaborate with Category Managers and technical teams to drive New Product Development (NPD).
- Lead competitive and market analyses to identify and renew supply sources in collaboration with Data & Insights Manager and Commercial Analyst.
- Manage procurement activities involving Sysco Europe, SMSI, IFG, international buying groups, PGM, and intertrade.
- Oversee Sysco Ireland Category Tenders processes.
- Develop and manage a new grey trading desk initiative.
- Support Commercial Finance teams in customer tender processes.
- Ensure effective utilization of the company's buying power.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a third-level degree in Business, Procurement, Food-related discipline, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate extensive commercial expertise with relevant experience as a Trader or Buyer in the Food industry.
- Proven results-driven approach applying financial, commercial, or procurement skills to business objectives.
- Take a proactive stance in problem-solving and resolving issues.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel at intermediate to advanced levels.
- Hold a full, clean category B driving license.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel as required by the role.
