Role Overview

IJM is looking for an Investigations and Law Enforcement Development (ILED) Programs Associate for Ghana. This person will help build community-level relationships in project areas, provide technical and logistical support to law enforcement officers across the case lifecycle, support the development and delivery of training for law enforcement, and assist with multi-agency coordination involving police, the Department of Social Welfare, and State Attorneys.

The role is based in Accra or Kumasi, Ghana, reports to the Justice System Program Manager, Ghana / Senior Manager, Kumasi, and involves frequent travel to other regions within Ghana.

Key Duties

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with relevant government stakeholders in support of organizational goals.
  • Build a strong understanding of trafficking methods used in the project area.
  • Gain working knowledge of the laws and criminal procedures related to human trafficking and similar case types.
  • Handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
  • Prepare and submit clear, detailed, and timely reports.
  • Complete finance-related tasks such as training, requisitions, expense reports, and related submissions within required timelines.
  • Record field data, training sessions, and meetings in IJM internal systems.
  • Develop practical knowledge of operative recruitment, development, and management.
  • Support authorities with documenting, collecting, and preserving evidence.
  • Offer technical guidance and assistance to government officials working on trafficking and related matters.
  • Help create training curriculum and supporting materials based on identified needs.
  • Assist in implementing, tracking, and evaluating collaboration strategies and best practices with government partners.
  • Ensure adherence to IJM, donor, and government compliance requirements.
  • Take part in IJM’s spiritual formation community.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience in criminal investigations, law enforcement, or a closely related area is preferred.
  • Experience working with government social service programs and NGOs in Ghana is an advantage.
  • Strong spoken and written English skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate in Twi, Ewe, Dangme, or Fante is beneficial.
  • Must be able to explain information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong presentation skills are needed.
  • Comfort with computers and Microsoft Office tools is preferred.
  • Must hold a valid license and be able to drive a four-wheel vehicle.
