Position Summary

We invite qualified General Practitioners to join our collaborative healthcare team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused primary healthcare services to a diverse student body. Within a multidisciplinary setting including doctors, nurses, counsellors, and psychologists, you will support students’ physical and mental health, addressing the distinct challenges faced during university life.

This role offers a fulfilling opportunity to contribute to a care environment centered on wellbeing, early intervention, prevention, and comprehensive support. Appointments with patients last 20 minutes to ensure thorough care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough health assessments, diagnosing and treating conditions according to current professional standards and best practices.
  • Ensure delivery of care that supports both physical and mental aspects of health focusing on patient-centered approaches.
  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, integrated care.
  • Efficiently manage referrals, documentation, patient follow-up, and case management with professionalism and timeliness.
  • Participate in preventative health efforts including screening, vaccinations, and educational activities.
  • Offer travel health guidance and administer relevant vaccinations as needed.
  • Evaluate aegrotat applications and provide appropriate academic health advocacy support.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with internal departments and external healthcare providers and agencies.

Candidate Profile

We seek a compassionate clinician with experience in general practice who has a genuine interest in working with young adults from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will demonstrate robust clinical judgment, clear communication, and professional composure in patient care settings.

  • Must hold registration as a medical practitioner in New Zealand with a current NZMC Practising Certificate and indemnity insurance.
  • Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners is required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in General Practice, with preference given to those familiar with primary or emergency care.
  • Current certification in CPR or Advanced Life Support is mandatory.
  • Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Experience in engaging with young adults and diverse community populations.
  • Proficient with clinical software, such as MedTech or comparable practice management systems.

Experience within a university or student-focused health service is advantageous but not essential.
