Job Overview
The Floor Care Associate is tasked with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across all floor surfaces and restrooms within the store environment. This role enhances customer trust and loyalty by consistently ensuring adherence to operating standards and embracing a diverse and inclusive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain order and safety in sales floors, liquor stores, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, and training rooms along with 70% of restroom areas.
- Operate floor care equipment and use relevant cleaning tools and chemicals appropriately.
- Sweep, vacuum mats and rugs and restore them to their designated positions, including spot removal on carpets.
- Manage disposal of trash and perform thorough cleaning of restrooms.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere that values customers and fosters loyalty by meeting the company’s cleanliness standards daily.
- Assist customers in locating products or offering suggestions.
- Uphold safety, sanitation, and productivity standards, including food handling practices and compliance with USDA, COOL, and DOA regulations.
- Promptly execute product recalls and secure affected items from customer access.
- Promote safety awareness by following procedures, reporting unsafe conditions, and informing management of accidents or unusual incidents such as theft or fraud.
- Ensure wage and hour regulations are respected and maintain a safety-focused culture among all associates.
- Verify that Hazardous Assessments are displayed, personal protective equipment is accessible and used, and equipment is maintained or disabled if unsafe.
- Report safety hazards and assist with remediation processes as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain authorization.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Strong customer service capabilities and outstanding interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
- Preferred to have a High School diploma or GED.
- English is required, Spanish language skills preferred.
- Supervisory experience in the range of 0 to 3 years is beneficial.
Environmental and Physical Demands
The role involves standing or walking on multiple flooring types, utilizing manual dexterity, speaking, seeing, hearing, smelling, and repetitive manual or foot motions. Regular reaching, carrying, pushing, or lifting loads up to specified limits is required, with occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
The working environment includes indoor and outdoor settings, and temperature variations from cold to warm and wet or humid conditions. There is exposure to slippery floors, hazardous equipment, sharp objects, loud noise, skin irritants, dust, fumes, sprays, cleaning agents, and other toxins.
Equipment used includes cleaning and general office tools, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts. Preferred equipment experience includes balers/compactors and box cutters. Personal protective gear such as goggles, gloves, and back braces is utilized to ensure safety. Physical demands include pulling weights up to 250 lbs and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions and Shifts
Shift times are variable with occasional travel requirements but no overnight stays mandated.
